I45 pounds of me (at first) carrying 70 pounds of golf bags in the 90 degree sun over 6 miles of course. 10 dollars a round. Every summer during high school. In college refed intra mural games, ran the dish washer in the cafeteria, pumped gas at the local off campus gas station, and worked in the book store. Came home every Xmas and worked two weeks carrying the mail (double issue of life magazine) through the nj snow and ice. Worked every summer during college (life guard, ran a dish mold at a plastic dish factory, carried the mail for 2 1/2 summers) After college enlisted in the US Army for background investigator (to pick my job instead of draft), could have spent the entire 3 years going around knocking on doors asking about Johnny Jones for security clearance purposes (and living on the economy with an army stipend)--instead volunteered for Army Infantry OCS. Had a weapons platoon in Nam in during 1968 Tet Offensive was at the village "we had to destroy in order to save" (Ben Tre--provincial capital, see Francis Fitzgerald's "Fire in the Lake". Got discharged with a hearing disability from acoustic trauma. Stayed in the reserves another 28 years. Got married, went to law school on the Gi Bill and the wife. Practiced general practice law in Calif for 7 years--mostly worked 60 hours a week--burnt out--moved back east. Sold health and life insurance for 3 years. Went on Active Duty as a Major as an Army Mobilization officer mostly planning for moving guard and reserve units to their training bases. After that, went to work in the legal section of the VA Board of Veteran's appeals as a staff attorney writing legal opinions for review and or approval by Administrative Law Judges. Commuted 300 miles home every other week end. Came back to NC and worked as paralegal for 6 years. Retired and then went back to work as second shift security guard at an electronics plant for 6 years--walked about 4 miles every night--paid exercise. Retired again. Got into investing. Your turn. I see you not only want to provide universal free child care for poor kids, but also for people who can afford to pay for it?
