Swissray Announces Alliance with EMED
NEW YORK, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Swissray International, Inc. (Nasdaq: SRMI - news) has announced the establishment of an alliance with EMED, a leading teleradiology and PACS vendor. Swissray and EMED made the announcement during the Radiological Society of America (RSNA) meeting in Chicago this week, where Swissray was a focus of attention after becoming the first manufacturer to win FDA clearance to sell direct digital X-ray technology in the United States.
Swissray International announced the formation of a strategic alliance with EMED of San Antonio, Texas, USA on December 2. The Swissray/EMED alliance will provide world-class scaleable imaging network and management systems with archiving capabilities for the entire healthcare enterprise. ''Open architecture and compliance with DICOM and HL-7 standards assure that Swissray by EMED PACS will fit into healthcare providers' future in digital imaging,'' said Ronald Ford, President of EMED.
''Together we have created a virtual worldwide network for communicating digital images,'' Ford declared at RSNA.
''Being selected by Swissray to provide the PACS piece of the direct digital radiography solution further validates EMED's position as a PACS supplier,'' Ford said. ''The Swissray by EMED PACS solution includes our DICOM server, multiple viewing options ranging from web browser to our full diagnostic workstation, and our archives,'' he added.
''There will be an impact upon healthcare and all the associated social implication by enhancing and laying the foundation of opportunities for telemedicine,'' Ford stated. ''With the Swissray direct digital radiography (ddR) system and the 'Swissray by EMED' PACS, the workstations will have the ability to establish communications with EMED's teleradiology base of more than 10,000 users around the world,'' Ford explained. ''Within minutes of capturing a ddR image, that image can be transmitted to any of these providers using our MultiView Standard software for viewing,'' he added.
''Our strategy is more than just selling digital radiology systems,'' said Ueli Laupper, VP - International Sales and Marketing, Swissray International. ''We are providing a complete solution involving Swissray companies and strategic partners like EMED to enable our customers to enjoy the benefits of film-less radiology,'' Laupper added.
