Cool history.... in a way it's a recapitulation of evolution... everything seems works this way. In the beginning you had to bring your own gas along (maybe make your own fuel even or know someone who knew what they were doing?), work on your own car, fudge the whole "tire" thinggy... the owner had to really know a LOT and have a lot of functions. Slowly over time those functions were lost as they weren't needed any more... don't need to tinker, make gas, parts, know 101 uses for the cotter pin, store all of the above.... We can still FIND information and retrain if we have to I suppose, but basically we've "differentiated" and no longer do all those functions.

All of life including our economy and political systems... everything works this way... our brain cells don't NEED to collect food any more... our stomach cells do it... I don't need to farm any more (although I like the idea), the farmers are doing it. Of course THIS POINTS TO INTERDEPENDENCE... brain can't live without heart and stomach... I can't live without farmer. If something happened, (some) people would retrain and all, but a big change could bring tons of pain, uncertainty and suffering. The various cells of a given organ have given up almost all of their original possibilities to act in harmony with their neighbors and do one thing really well!

Human societies seem the same way... originally we didn't even really have a country... people fanned out like the original cells on the planet and teamed up over time... even THIS country sort of started that way as people went west and the "country" idea followed behind as territories formed and all that... at first there isn't even communication... Slowly towns formed and got a "sheriff" or whatever and towns banned together and then states formed... more and more interconnection and communication AND differentiation as trade meant you didn't NEED to grow here... you could run cattle and trade with farmers over there.

Now we have much of the population hardwired and actually sitting and doing ONE THING and are TOTALLY DEPENDENT on our system to furnish all their other needs. One wonders where it will stop.

One also wonders weather Tesla has been able to insert itself into the framework effectively enough to grow and become part of that framework... or will the immune system come and kill it?? LOL
