I talked with Mary Bell today at Excel IR. Excel has not changed their guidance on earnings but are still trying to digest the acquisition of Telco. They won't know the final results until the end of the quarter when the books are closed.

I suspect that earnings will come in below current estimates. Some of this is likely to be due to strong growth in customers and IRs. Mary did not have specific numbers but said IR and customer requitments are up nicely (most of you already know that from your own experiences). There is a short-term cost associated with ramping up momentum on growth that will negatively effect earnings. The good news is that the overall effect is positive and any short-term dip in the stock caused by this is a time to buy -> Don't sell because things are getting better.

"1998 will be the year for new products", Mary Bell, Excel V.P. of IR.

the biggest impact product in 1998 will probably be the roll out of commercial sales propgrams. This market is immense and leverages both Telco and Excel's capabilities extremely well.

Happy Hollidays Joe and all!
