How did you start fires when camping on rainy days?

In the jungle we used a small ball of C4. It is so flammable just touching it with a lit cigarette started it burning.
C4 is hard to get these days so -

Here is another technique. Take a pill bottle, put some oil in it; add cotton balls; then add enough additional oil to soak the cotton.

To start our wood stove, I use 2 or 3 small sticks of fatwood. Shave a few strips off one piece and place the shavings and the rest of the 2 sticks under additional kindling. Touch the shavings with a match or candle lighter.

iirc, we rolled strips of newspaper up and dipped them
in parafin wax. Same for strike anywhere match heads.
We also carried dry tinder in our packs. Dryer lint sounds
xlnt, even for flint/steel fire.

You can boil water in a paper cup. The cup will burn down
to the water line. I couldn't believe it, until it was proved
to me. What an epiphany!

The weather here turned today. Cold rain, low 40s, with freezing temps predicted by Sunday.

I'm glad I got my trailer winterized yesterday - blew out the water lines and put RV antifreeze in the drain traps. Let the freeze come!!!
