The U.S. has spent $3.7 trillion on welfare in the past five years, with virtually nothing to show for it.

Not a damn thing except for keeping millions of Americans functioning at a subsistence level as the try to weather the economic destruction of the Bush era which the current GOP assholes fight tirelessly to complete

...and the poor super rich continue to have trouble finding storage containers to house the cash they have pulled out of the economy in the same 5 years

Poverty: Any lingering doubts about the deficiencies of Obamanomics can be dispelled with one piece of data: The U.S. has spent $3.7 trillion on welfare in the past five years, with virtually nothing to show for it.

If there has been an increase in poverty, it has to do with the failed economics under a conservative president during the aught years. You people nearly destroyed the world economy with your incompetence and greed, and now you all are annoyed because the economy is not recovering quickly but still insist on roadblocking any attempt to make it happen faster.

You all need to take an economics course at a fully accredited university..........something other than Oral Roberts. You might..........and I say might because you all are not noted for your learning capabilities.........learn something about how the economy works.

That would be conservative politics added to conservative economics.

US durable goods orders, sentiment suggest politics hurting economy

"The U.S. has spent $3.7 trillion on welfare in the past five years, with virtually nothing to show for it."

It's not what we have to show; it's what we don't have to show. No rioting peasants, no starving in the parks, very little freezing on door stoops. Domestic Tranquility ain't cheap.

Might I suggest, if you don't like food stamps, start agitating employers to pay living wages, instead of relying on the feds to keep their employees fed in the manner to which most of us are accustomed. You might want to start with McDonald's and Walmart, but don't forget Papa John's, who thinks you can have either well-paid employees, or you can have this, but you can't have both.

Pope San Francisco needs to come to the US, and eviscerate Ayn Rand.
