Chances are good that the shutdown will be a factor even if Cruz et al don't do it again. If only because some members stand a good chance of being primaried and that will revive the issue.

If they do choose to do it again, well...

Well, the number's probably between there. But the question really is, what will it look like a year from today, not now? I mean, we got lucky as Dems with the timing of the Mark Foley scandal in 2006. If it had happened two months earlier, the Dems would've not won the House that year.

I tend to agree with you. They have gerrymandered the hell out of their districts. However, what I am hoping is that a breaking point has been reached; that the GOP's behavior earlier this month was so repugnant Americans are more than just short term turned off and that teapers will also do their job by primarying the average, 'normal' R.
