Seriously, I wonder where c't got that data? It's pretty
interesting in context. Funny if the "intentionally modified"
drives they tested were drives that had all the parts originally
spec'd for just this kind of thing...

I have not seen the article you are quoting from. Was it on their
Web site or in the print issue.? The one I was talking about is a different one.
It was in a recent print issue.
