Steve...a JAVA based WP ?. Could be to soon. JAVA at best is great for writing "small" applets that are not CPU hogs.

I played around with this one voice/graphics JAVA application called TRACKER (accessible on the SUNW site) and written by a small outfit in the U.S. TRACKER is used to track the movement of radioactive material around the world and with the main database residing in D.C. For the narrater to complete one sentence took well over 1 minute. By the time he completes the sentence, most users will have turned off their computer. This goes to show how slow JAVA apps. are over the web. It is like going back to the days of the 8088 processor and running Windows on it (if you can accomplish that).

Tracker is a nice application and neat tool BUT to slow. Corel's WP written in JAVA is too early. JAVA needs more fine tuning or we need faster processors.

Small graphical applets are another story. They can play a role in selling the web page to the masses. I love them myself.

So in retrospect, JAVA applications are not feasable at the moment. Applets are.
