That's the hard part for anyone to grasp. Without the alien's death sporting influence over us you could probably count human conflict leading to murder on one hand. Throughout all of our history. We were never a violent species if left alone. They've been here a long time. Think lab rat. Now look in the mirror. If they exterminated us they'd no longer have the pleasure of torturing us with wars, disease, etc. Do you see their dilemma?

Jam 100,000 people into a football stadium. Like sardines. Crowded. Elbows everywhere. Half of them are drunk the other half hate the drunks. How many deaths from human violence occur? None. We aren't a violent species. We are led into violence. Who leads us? Authority figures. Who do aliens influence? Authority figures. I rest my case.
