Yes, it will be another stepping stone for the young adults. Driving license, drinking, paying their own insurance. As you noted when they see their first checks carved up with federal, state, local taxes and healthcare, costs, SS and Medicare, it will shock them. Obama talks to them at their universities and pumps them all up, but that paystub will bring them straight back to reality.

Yes, we liberals always wanted a single payer. We are not happy with this Republican health system. It is funny how we liberals are the devil trying to get health care for the poor. Funny value system you subscribe to.
