Generally, freedom is but a brief interlude that occurs occasionally when the bullies of the world temporarily lose control because of overreaching or because they are busy squabbling amongst themselves over control. The "unnatural" duration and extent of US freedoms were a consequence of environment more than anything else..so many resources and so much land and not many people. Early on, there was no way one could control everybody and everything even if they wanted to. Also, the Natives, the Africans, the woman, and even the children might have viewed our "perfect" freedom government a bit differently. Which also indicates that the our freedoms were set only to suit our situation and environment and not because of some magnanimous decision.
