>No one was forced into subprime mortgages.

They were deliberately lied into them. Swindled.

>No one was forced to buy houses at what we now see were inflated prices.

We had a societal understanding that house prices could never crater the way they did, and that owning a house was something that everyone was supposed to do, and it was pushed and pushed and pushed by the banks. Remember the "ownership society?"

>The "liars" are bipartisan. Even Barney Fwank and Chuck Schumer were all for the housing bubble before they were against it.

I didn't say they weren't. But now they have been trying to do the right thing. The right thing isn't nothing.
