We discussed the political climate a bit and he is of the opinion that VGM's are here to stay and that this was posturing. His thought was too much money was involved for the state in order to outlaw them altogether.

In politics, as in business, it is money that drives the train. Always has and always will. But, the Republican SC governor and his appointees (such as Attorney General) must still try to look good for that part of their constiuentcy who fancy themselves as some kind of "morals police". Remember, the Gov. is up for re-election THIS YEAR.

In addition, since the governor is going to try to get some VGM regulations and taxes out of the legislature, they have got to "raise the bid" (if I may use a market metaphor) substantially if they hope to get anywhere near what they will ultimately have to negotiate down to. The way I see it, all this bluster coming out of SC these days is nothing more than a big, pre-election, pre-legislative session, game of political chicken.
