Why hasn't fraudulent Countrywide Financial declared bankruptcy ? I can recall this being discussed a lot in the years gone by. The answer to the question in many people's mind is that BAC can't pull it off. When they first acquired countrywide they absorbed them into BAC and they commingled the funds way too much. If they put up a stone wall and held Countrywide at arms length you might have been able to bankrupt them but they did not know the extent of the problem until it was way too late.
