The Republican party has been the party of the rich and conservatives for 100 years:

Harding, Coolidge, Hoover.

And the conservative party which was the Democratic party before 1900, the party of the slave owners and Robber Barron's. The conservatives being on the wrong side of history goes back all the way to the beginning.

It was the conservative's who sided with the king and the liberals who fomented the revolution.
