I know the Republicans were the conservative party of 1860 while the Democrats were the liberals because I read history. You have trouble with this because you're deeply ignorant of history and believe what you like to believe about it. The liberals were in favor of the working man. They supported him by keeping the slaves in slavery. Otherwise it would depress wages. The conservatives were in favor of the business man. They supported him by freeing the slaves. This had the effect of increasing the number of people the business man could hire for his business. The conservative party was the party of white anglo saxon protestants. That would be the Republicans and it still is. The party of minorities was the liberal party. That would be the Democrats and they still support minorities. The Democrats worked to obtain advantages for their voters. The slaves were not voters so the Democrats did not work for them. Similarly today, fetuses can't vote so the Democrats are in favor of letting people kill them whenever they like. The Republicans don't care about the lack of a fetus vote. They support what is right based on christian principles of right and wrong, just as they did in the 1860s. Sorry. It's just an historical fact that the liberals were on the wrong side of slavery. You look at the world through democrat colored glasses. That's why you have difficulty understanding that global warming has gone against you. -- Carl
