Oh, I get Keynes. I've read extensively on his theories as well as those of Hayek. I know very well what Keynes wanted us to do and I also know how modern economists have bastardized Keynes' theories and how both GOP and Dems have conveniently forgotten that he espoused "austerity" and surpluses during good times to build up a reserve for "bad" times.

The fact of the matter is that the Dems and the GOP haven't one clue how to build up surplus reserves. So in the absence of that kind of fiscal responsibility, we can't allow a run up of deficits and debt in bad times. We simply can't afford it. Expenses must be balanced by income and savings.
