stephen, that article has one of those titles that is designed to grab you but, if you read it close you find out that the pc isn't being obsoleted...the way pc's are sold is changing and there will be lots of different pc's from the low low end at $500 to the workstations that cost multi-thousands..and the massive supper server that cost multi-millions. a normal loaded server (proliant) cost 600k+ now be sure and read all the ref. items. I also stresses that the home market is going to finally come in strong..be sure and read all articles referneced. Account management will come back along with various twist on BTO and CTO programs. By the way..this article in over 6 months old<ggg> Net pc will have a place in the market..but, it's not a manufacturing pc. it's for transactional workers, not knowledge workers that are dependent on windows apps. But, the thin client will invnt a way to get use out of 286'2, 386's and 486's using win 98 for data collection apps. the successful pc compnaies will have to be able to supply powerful super servers like a tandem cluster in win NT since billion dollar corps want to be on completely micro based client server.
