Not if one was responsible and bought the insurance before one had the preexisting condition.

That is utterly absurd.

1. Plenty of pre-existing conditions occur during childhood. Or are genetic.

2. If you get a pre-existing condition while working at a job that offers insurance, you may be locked into that job. Or at least into working for another company that offers insurance.

3. Guess what, this isn't the first time that insurance companies have dropped policies. And dropped policies of people with pre-existing conditions. Or dropped policies of people who get sick while they are insured... for whatever reason they can find.

4. One of the leading causes of individual bankruptcies in this country is due to medical bills. Hmm, wonder why.

My bolding below.

Medical Bills Are the Biggest Cause of US Bankruptcies: Study

Bankruptcies resulting from unpaid medical bills will affect nearly 2 million people this year—making health care the No. 1 cause of such filings, and outpacing bankruptcies due to credit-card bills or unpaid mortgages, according to new data. And even having health insurance doesn't buffer consumers against financial hardship.

The findings are from NerdWallet Health, a division of the price-comparison website. It analyzed data from the U.S. Census, Centers for Disease Control, the federal court system and the Commonwealth Fund, a private foundation that promotes access, quality and efficiency in the health-care system.

Not that this kind of thing would ever happen to you. Or a member of your family. Or anyone you actually know. After all, you and they are all responsible people who only do responsible things.

[sarcasm alert....]

Lose the job, go with expensive Cobra ( where you pay the employers contribution and yours ) until it expires, then, you've got no insurance. As usual, you don't know what you're talking about, like most Republicans.
