qdog,

MSFT will not come up short due to Asia, since they have only sold 1 copy of each product to Korea, HK, Singapore etc etc combined.

ORCL clearly demonstrates the herd is completely clueless now and will charge off in any direction. Most of the SI threads reflect this mentality also. IBM, HWP, MSFT, CA, MOT.... all faces the same circumstances as ORCL. Not to mention the box makers. Michael Dell said Asia is only 6 or 7% of Dell's business so they should be immuned. Wait till Sony, Hitachi, Packard Bell..... start a price war.

The overall market is still the most influential factor, then the sector, then the individual stocks. QCOM is a strong company in a relatively strong sector but will still get killed short term due to the overall market. I hope to trade and use covered calls to maximize my Q holdings during this period of opportunity.

Maurice, it kind of reminds me of the times when QCOM dropped to the low 30s. You and I were screaming buy.

Brian, I wouldn't rely too much on Lehman or analysts these days. I find it hard to believe that anyone has the wisdom to reduce all the variables into a few concrete numbers.

The bellweathers will drop one by one. We should all repent because the end is near. I will be revisiting Costa Rica and Arenal, the mighty volcano. May be I should sacrifice a Q phone to appease the gods.

Ramsey

qdog, your post brought this thought to my addled brain: for the Oracle volume to hit 170MM, the funds had to be involved in a huge way. Ain't no other way to get to those numbers. Now, I've got no beef that they were in Oracle and got blind-sided by the earnings report--happens to one and all, and all the time. But why would paid professionals pull the trigger in a blood-bath? Isn't that what dumb amateurs are supposed to do? It bothers me because I have this nagging fear that the funds are run by 30 somethings who have not only never seen a bear market but think that 20% annually is just mediocre. (chuckster, note British spelling!) Anyway, this causes me to fret cause this was anything but a reaction by Cool Hand Lukes and if all these kids head for the door, well you can fill in the blanks. Therefore, as much as I know you're making religous deals and praying that your friends in Redmond get nailed, I don't think that would be beneficial to our economic health cuz if those guys tank it, 170MM shares is gonna look like a walk in the park. Sorry for bummer post. Regards, Mike Doyle

QDOG , Sounds like you are Burt Renolyds ? He promised to give half his wealth to the church but the closer he got to shore he told God that was to much. This was a movie. Judging your public wish I don't think you have a chance to survive.
