I had a friend who is now an actuary but when he started out worked for BCBS in Seattle. He was in a large room with a few hundred people all of whom poured over claims and whose job was to find reasons for rejecting the claims.

Your faith in insurance companies is misplaced. Why do you think that most bankruptcies are caused by medical issues?


It is not misplaced--I acknowledge them for the reality that they are. Take off the rose colored glasses. And for your information people have been known to file false claims. It is a two way street here.

Lots of bankruptcies are a caused because people didn't buy coverage or what they bought wasn't adequate coverage. In other words they goofed. And, yes, some of the bankruptcies were caused by insurance "loopholes". But c'mon man economic life is seldom black and white like you are portraying it.
