Say we agree that Christianity is a religion of loving your neighbor, turning the other cheek, being your brother's keeper, and all that good stuff. Nonetheless, the failure of Christianity to rehabilitate the hate filled bigots such as Anders Behring Breivik a "100 percent Christian" who planned to pray to God seeking for his help during his attacks - or even less dangerous bigots such as yourself who spend their time spreading hatred over the internet, speaks volumes of the value of Christianity for humanity. Taken in aggregation with countless instances of the usage of Christianity to pillage, rape, and enslave entire nations (as was the case for the Inca and the Spanish), or Churches alignment with the Nazis, Christianity doesn't fare very well as a positive force. Now I have known many kind souls who firmly believe in Christianity. They are true humanitarians and embody the ideals of loving one's enemies as much as they can (something that Buddhism also emphasizes). They would argue that people such as yourself or Anders or Pizarro and Cotes are not true Christians and do not embody the true teaching of Jesus. Not being a Christian myself, I cannot judge that statement. But it is clear that you do not all belong to the same religion, whatever superficial similarities the various camps may have. Over the years I have heard many arguments for what a true Christian/Muslim/Jew/Communist/German/French/etc is or is not. People resort to all sorts of quotations, interpretations, philosophization, and otherwise willful ignorance (you are very keen on this one) to justify their position and put down others. Frankly I don't care if communism is a loving doctrine designed to help a society be free and prosperous. I only care that in practice communists were a bane of any society in which they came to power. Similarly I don't care what the "True Christianity" may be. I look at people such as yourself and I examine the history of Christians and I can see that Christianity has done little to make the world a better place. Which brings me back to my main theme in all these discussions. People tend to do whatever they want to do and then use religion (and various interpretations of it) as well as anything else they can get their hands on to justify their actions and beliefs. Which is why I care about the person and not about what religion he purports to believe in. Decent human beings and kindred souls are so despite of their religions and not because of it. This is my last post to you for a while. I've overused my personal quota on SI and am off to better things in the real world. You may have the last word. Enjoy it. Sun Tzu
