Maybe, but tennis shoes may be adequate and not hinder them so much so they can run around. They act like a wet suit. I would worry waves would keep filling up boots?? The kids probably already have it figured out as they go to the beach a lot. I used to run all winter in the snow and found simple tennis shoes kept me the warmest. I am taking an extra pair of old tennies. I'll let you know how we solved it, or didn't solve it.
