Religion arose by people making up stuff. And as they didn't understand much until recently, one could say most anything with some type of authority and people would believe it; and as they thought stuff up they handed it down as fact. In primitive cultures there is no line between what is real and what it not. People worshiped their ancestors and spirits. They didn't recognize death, as gone. As a line of demarcation. People still believe most anything like Republicans and FOX news nonsense-lol.
