Private insurance can work, if it's strictly regulated. France has such a system.

This is something that doesn't seem to get much attention, but I think you're right on this. Backing out of ACA won't be that difficulty (there is still a possibility the Court will kill it, as well, although I'm sure that probability is not too high).

Insurance companies will be there to pick up the pieces and will probably not suffer huge long-term problems as a result of it. But the 16 Million (perhaps more) new Medicaids will be a permanent drain on taxpayers; even if the legislation is thrown out, the increased limits on Medicaid eligibility will show up quickly in new legislation.
