"It could have been. But nation building takes a couple of generations. A decade or so won't even get you close."

Damn....so now you're an expert on nation building. I'm so impressed.

A decade or so got us close.

But then we had this nitwit of a president take over who didn't (and doesn't) know shit from Shinola and squandered a lot of what his highly competent predecessor had accomplished.

It was always the same problem: The collective American public has a very short memory when it comes to things like 9/11. And the entire point of the Iraq War was based on the concept that freedom is compelling. It brought about the so-called Arab Spring, which was also squandered by an incompetent president who was and still is clueless as to foreign affairs.

It is an easy out for you guys. Bush screwed up the economy, Obama inherited a terrible thing. Bush screwed up Iraq, Obama inherited a terrible thing. But what the fuck has Obama done to improve ANYTHING? Nothing.

The biggest waste of eight years the country has endured since FDR.

Well, I don't want to police Iraq for a couple of generations, and I'm sure the vast majority of Americans would rather we didn't either.

Papa Bush had the right idea for invading, get in, get OUT (even though I disagreed with that, too), W had the totally wrong idea, if he was even told we'd "nation build". I think when he declared "Mission Accomplished" he really believed it was OVER.
