VTS(Veritas) just reported .95 vs. expectation of .88

The firm reiterated what many of us already know-
that the deepwater Gulf of Mexico has arguably
the hottest action in the world right now.

thank you for your input, Flan. For my part, I am not a TA person and I find myself getting lost lately with all the only ta info on this thread. I would also appreciate more of a mix. That being said, I really enjoy the parts of Thean's posts that I actually understand. On another note, on the "taking stock" of CNBC this afternoon, Eugene Peroni, of Janny, Montgomery, Scott, said that he views this pullback of the oil service stocks as a buying opportunity. He still feels they will be one of the leaders in 1998. IMO as the tech stocks keep missing earnings because of the Asian woes, investors will have to start looking for stocks that are actually meeting and beating their earnings projections.

TA has been helping me from making some mistakes. Sorry if it goes against your grain. I like Thean's analysis, Mike's 'shoot from the hip', and many others who post great information. This is a great thread cause there is so much good info. It's easy to get burned short term with the drillers. TA helps me avoid those mistakes. Seems like only yesterday that a news release like VTS's would jump a stock $3. Then the correction came and good news meant nothing. Let's see what happens tormorrow with VTS. Have earnings started to impact favorably or not? that should be a good indicator of sector sentiment...don't ya think?

Flan - I like this thread for the very reason that great fundmanetal analysis is offered side-by-side with TA. Fundamentals set the overall long-term direction (which, thanlkfully is up for this sector), while TA may be able to help us avoid some of the temporary pain inflicted by the volatility.
