Shield Gold (SHG-V) begins met testing on Powerline samples

Nov 13, '13 - News Release
Shield Gold is pleased to announce that it has commenced with a program of metallurgical testing on a composite of graphitic samples originating from the Powerline Property, one of its four (4) graphite properties located in the historically prolific Buckingham and Lochaber Townships area in southwestern Québec.

The objective of processing these samples will be to develop a flowsheet to produce a commercially acceptable graphite concentrate containing greater than 95% graphitic carbon (Cg) while maximizing the overall recovery of graphite and minimizing flake degradation. Certain flake sizes are in high demand on a global level due declining to inventories and concentrates can command up to $US 2,200 per tonne.

These tests, being conducted by PRO (Process Research Ortech Inc.) in Mississauga, ON, will outline the quality of the crystalline flake sampled from the Corporation’s property and investigate recoveries up to the 95% threshold. Assays and SEM work will be performed by Actlabs (Activation Laboratories Ltd.) in Ancaster, ON.

Paul Gorman, CEO and Director of Shield commented on the importance of this program by stating, "Processing our graphitic ore samples will give us a better understanding of grade, flake size distribution and purity, which will allow us to establish how we position ourselves in the evolving graphite space. By having this information, we will be able to work with North American graphite customers and provide them with the "DNA" characterization of the flake from our properties."

About the Diamond and Diamond West Properties: The Diamond and Diamond West Properties comprise 26 and five claims respectively. The Diamond claims are located immediately to the north and east of the historic Diamond or Peerless Mine (Lot 12 N½, Rang IX and Lots 12C, 13B, 14A, 14B, 14C, 15B, 17A, 17B, Rang X, Buckingham Township). Historical reports suggest some of the feed for the original mill at the mine may have come from the current claims. The Diamond West Block lies across the Rivière du Lièvre from the Diamond claims; the area along the river being withdrawn from staking. The historic Cummings occurrence (Lot 15B, Rang IX, Buckingham Township) is covered by the Diamond West claim block. The two blocks of claims lie within the boundaries of the Municipalité de L’Ange-Gardien.

About the Bell and Powerline Properties:

The Bell and the Powerline Properties comprise 20 and 15 claims respectively. The Bell claims are located immediately to the east of the historic Bell (Lots 1-3, Rang V, Buckingham Township) and Dickson or Québec Graphite (Lots 1-5, Rang IV,

Buckingham Township) Mines. The Bell claims lie within the Municipalité de Lochaber partie Ouest. The Powerline claims are located in the Municipalité de Lochaber. Graphite is historically noted as being present on Lot 10, Rang VII of Lochaber Township within Powerline block of claims; this is the same area where graphite has been observed in outcrop during preliminary follow-up to the airborne geophysical survey.
