Sankar, I would characterize the market as a tug of war between two emotions - greed and fear, not between bulls and bears. On any given day, bulls out number bears 98 to 2 (based on NYSE short interest volue numbers) both long-term and short-term.
Greed is an emotion that results from fear - the fear of missing out further gains! In essense, we are dealing with two variations of fear. That's what makes the market. Panics happen because of the fact that bears constitute a meager 2%. IMHO!
