We can have the quadrafecta of clean energy, energy independence, cheap energy, and profitable enterprises. All of that is possible, if we only had the desire to make it happen. As I said, I want all forms of energy. i think we will need them going forward to accommodate the rising population and the increased usage of electric powered "stuff". Even if a lot of plug in vehicle owners think that the energy is free, it does come from somewhere and it ain't free. And I suspect that we are going to see a lot more EVs on the road in our future. I just don't see how removing 50% of the world's fuel source from the energy equation will work. Natural Gas, nuclear and hydro are all good sources of baseload power. And natural gas plants are truly a joy to work in. They are not only clean, they are very quiet too. Hydro is pretty much tapped out. All of the good dam locations have already been developed. I love nukes, but they are nearly impossible to put in production in this country. But I love wind and solar too. I was out at a site that is being developed for solar just two weeks ago and I am on my way out the door to catch a flight to a natural gas field and coal mine in just a few minutes. Energy independence is critical to this country. It is critical for the obvious economic reasons, but it is also critical to our foreign policy. Nothing would make me happier than for the U.S. to disentangle our business, economic and military interests from the middle east. We can't do that without coal and all of the rest of the energy sources put together.
