With Bilow you have a classic case of projection. He would have no problem with compromising his intellectual integrity to suite his political agenda, so the climatologists must be doing the same.

Hi Alighieri; Re: "Caution here....local pauses and variations are typical in long term trends.";

Of course you're right about this, the climate has long period (multiple decade) oscillations in it. But that's a problem for the global warming alarmists; temperatures have been rising since long before the creation of the modern industry. The current secular temperature rise dates to roughly 1800. At that time there was no petrochemical industry pumping vast quantities of crude oil nor was coal burning anywhere near as large as it is now.

Re: "These assertions are demonstrably untrue."

Of course I disagree. What's more, one of the assertions is specifically mentioned in the latest IPCC report as a possible explanation for the pause, that is, that the solar cycle could be responsible for the pause. Are you claiming that the latest IPCC report has "demonstrably untrue" statements in it? Or do you deny that they mention solar cycles as a possible explanation for the pause?

Now it has been stated in the peer reviewed literature that it is untrue that solar cycles can be responsible for the pause but before you believe this, you really should look up the proof. I've seen it in Nature. Come back after you've read it and try to guess my criticism of the demonstration. I think my criticism is likely the same one that led the scientists who wrote the IPCC to ignore that published claim and to assert that it *is* possible that solar cycles could lead to the pause.
