Notice right wingers calling Haiyan 'only' a 147 mph typhoon? Everything about politics these days depending what side you are on as is a technicality of sustained winds over 10 minutes at landfall which I never see for hurricanes.

Fact is it broke the all time record at 195 mph sustained winds over 1 minute. As a reference we only had three comparable to this hit landfall the entire 20th century in the US. Two were in the modern era Andrew at 175 mph and Camille at 190 mph.

Or still another way the lowest barometric pressure recorded estimated at 895 lower than Camille, Andrew and Katrina and in at number 2 all time by a hair..
