Air density normally keeps temps higher at low atlitude than high altitude.

For the 'reheating' are you alluding to Convservation of Energy?

Almost no one I know who has ranted to me on the subject of the Greenhouse effect in regards to man made global warming has ever been able to answer the question I always put to them in return which is, "What is the percentage of CO2 in the atmosphere and how much has it risen in the last 100 years?"

I've gotten some pretty wacky answers to those two questions. I have little patience for people who spout out a theory without doing even the least bit of investigation.
