Groupon is countering Amazon's futuristic vision of unmanned flying drone package delivery by reaching back into history for a better-tested delivery method: catapults.

Well at least that's the story in the latest internal video circulated at the Chicago online deals company known for its oddball humor.

"Look, we're a technology company but we draw the line at creating autonomous robots that buzz by your house, wake up your sleeping babies and, who knows, takes pictures of you in the shower," Everett Weiss, senior vice president of innovations at Groupon, said in the spoof. "Groupon is about great deals, great service and medieval catapults."
