The (D)'s really need a viable, possible, opposing party. At the moment, they can fail at everything they try, but we'll still vote for them, because they're sane! As you said, we only get the two choices. If they fail enough, the country will say, "What the hell?", and vote in the insane.

What I find depressing is that very few people (none?) either in the administration or in the media pundit class predicted the key problems. Instead, the right wing side has been screaming all along that its the end of the universe but largely with nonsense, while the left wing side has blithely gone along thinking it will all work out just fine. If more of us posting here actually tired to examine what the problems might be and did a little research, we can actually do a better job at figuring things out than many well known individuals in the media.
