Andrew-you need to go to control panel/display/settings, then slide to whatever. Try 800X600 first, with hicolor 16 bit. Make sure to click on "apply" and then reboot. new settings should work. You may want to try 1024X768 and true color(24 bit). For font size in both use "small fonts" everythiong should fit. Of course the more video memory you have the better it'll work. Anyway, sorry for the off topic. Just lurking on this thread, thinking about a position. Bo

OFF TOPIC.... I will nudge the size of the smaller chart down a little more tomorrow.

I have a hard time getting a handle on graphics lingo too. I believe resolution is pixals per inch. If you increase your resolution everyting will get smaller if you make no other changes as you are craming the pixals used to make your letters into a smaller space.

However if you tell the computer to make the letters larger as in choosing a larger font they will be back to the same size that they were with your 640 x 480 but with better definition. For example if you were to increase the resolution of your graphics and then choose the larger chart it would fit your screen and the information would be the same size as you see with your lower resolution but there are more pixals defining the same chart and it is therefore more clear.

It is the same as the comparison of a low resolution printer,150 DPI, (DPI is dots per inch... "pixals per inch for a monitor") and a 300 DPI printer. If you have ever compared the two you will see that the 300 DPI printer has a clearer output but everything is the same size.

So yes everything gets smaller so you have to reconfigure some settings to make it bigger again and in the end more clear.

I hope I haven't made things more confusing

Regards

OFF TOPIC....Andy, if you go to view from the top bar menu in Explorer and then choose fonts , there are four options. If you choose largest you will see the text get larger. If you then reset the resolution of your display system as described you will see that the text goes back to its original size but it has more definition.
