11/22/13 Contest Update On the 50th anniversary of JFK’s assassination, I imagine many of us who were alive on November 22, 1963 are sharing their memories of that day. Unsurprisingly to my friends, I saw the news while following the ticker at a brokerage office on Broadway in NYC. Fifty years later, the news on the ticker reads “record highs for the Dow & S&P 500.” Meanwhile, the Contest median had another terrific week and closed Friday up 59.94% YTD (vs. up 54.29% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Biotech Index did even better, ending the week up 61.09% YTD (vs. up 54.89% YTD a week ago), while the Nasdaq Composite Index could only break even for the week and is now up 32.20% YTD (vs. up 32.01% YTD a week ago). RKRW’s portfolio added a few more percentage points, closing Friday with a 155.60% YTD gain. But second place ROBO’s portfolio matched RKRW’s gain, closing up 130.31% YTD. And powered by CRME, GHMM’s portfolio, up 115.47% YTD, took third place. At Friday's close, 35 of the 39 Contest portfolios were in the black with 19 of the 39 still beating the NBI.
