I don't have the mobile phone Wi Fi on when I leave my house. It uses up the battery searching all the time. I would think many people would do the same.

If its not on, no one will see it. It's different with the mobile phone network of course. Modern mobile phones can be switched of for eve dropping purposes through the network. I'm not sure even if you take out the battery it's safe, as their is a small power cell inside the phone that can be used for surveillance purposes.

Of course I never disposed of my old 6230e nokia brick. My daughter put of those through a full wash and it still worked after I replaced the battery. It's good for trips. That is what I would carry around if I wanted to keep the snoopers out. I expect it will be an offense to carry one of those at some point. Switch that off, pull out the battery, and you can talk about the next anti NSA rally in the comfort your mobile phone isn't spying on you. -g-
