thall: With all of the materials Maxam is talking about producing, there probably won't be anything left in the tailings except perlite. Maybe they will sell it to you.

Tim: You are soooo conservative. They already are working well below 20 feet with no problem. They simply push the material up hill (earthen ramp) to a point near the grizzly, where the front-end loader takes over. They were at least 50 feet down when I viewed the operation. The waste goes right back into one side of the hole. They put up a small earth dam to prevent overflow water from passing into the area they are excavating. Periodically, they pump out the settling pond into a second pond and then push the sediment back into the hole. The pond has a cement bottom. Slowly, they rotate the excavation around the pivot point, which is the grizzly and the plant area.
