Duncan’s derision betrays the very control-freak impulses that drive Common Core. He presumes that only technocratic elites in Washington can determine what quality standards and curricula look like. He pretends that minority parents and students in inner-city charter and magnet schools with locally-crafted, rigorous classical education missions simply don’t exist. A textbook liberal racist, Duncan whitewashes all minority parents and educators who oppose Common Core out of the debate. And he condescendingly implies that the only reason “white suburban moms” object to Common Core is that their children are too dumb to score well on tests that are…a complete and utter mess. As Brittany Corona noted earlier this summer, educators in New York and Kentucky outlined multiple problems with the assessments that Duncan champions: If Arne Duncan thinks his comments are going to tame and marginalize the Stop Common Core movement, he’s got another thing coming. Education demagogue Arne Duncan and his Big Government/Big Business cronies invoke race, employ divisive class rhetoric, and attack active, involved, and informed moms and their children as academic failures — while Common Core’s own failings pile up like Obamacare website 404s.

The Daily Caller ^ \| 11/18/2013 \| Robby Soave William Penn, the Michigan State University writing professor who was suspended just a few days into the semester after unleashing a torrent of verbal abuses aimed at Republicans, Christians and athletes, will resume his teaching duties in January. MLive.com reported that Penn has been assigned to teach two courses at MSU beginning next semester. “Professor William Penn will be assigned to teach two small courses next semester in creative writing,” said MSU spokesperson Kent Cassella in a statement to MLive.com. Penn was initially stripped of his teaching duties after launching into an anti-Republican tirade in his first lecture. A student in the classroom recorded his rant and sent it to Campus Reform, which published it. The professor claimed that Republicans refused to pay their taxes and supported voter ID laws in order to disenfranchise black people. He also attacked Anne Romney, claimed that Christians were “blind followers,” and trashed athletes. This was insulting to some of the students in the room who were Republicans, Christians and athletes, though other students thought the rant was awkward and offensive as well. One student even reported that Penn had threatened to punish students who disagreed with him by giving them bad grades. (UPDATE: Hate-filled anti-Republican prof still earning full salary, also insulted Christians and athletes) “He had said before, ‘You have every right to disagree with me, but it may be reflected in your grade,’” said student Caroline Freeman in a statement. Nevertheless, Penn will be returning to an MSU classroom in a few weeks. University officials did not respond to a request for comment as to whether they felt certain that students’ rights would be respected in Penn’s class.

Prompted by an article by Breitbart’s Stephen K. Bannon which highlighted a piece Murphy had written entitled “ F the troops,” Murphy spewed even more anti-military vitriol Tuesday, saying among other foul things, that “Reagan f*s Satan in hell” and U.S. troops do "nothing" to protect fellow Americans' free speech. As Breitbart’s Matthew Boyle reports, after several people tweeted Murphy about his “F* the troops” piece, Murphy lashed out, lacing his tweets with F-bombs. Here are some highlights: Then, one self-identified military veteran named Matthew Laas tweeted at him asking him if he would say “f* the troops” to the “face of any military member” like himself. Murphy responded by asking if he read the article, and Laas said he had. Then Laas tweeted a follow-up to Murphy saying, “hey write what you want, it is a free country, people like my brothers and myself gave you the right to spew your hate.” Laas responded: “besides fight, bleed, and kill those who would rather cut you throat than look at you, for the past 16 years?” Murphy continued his onslaught by mocking the work of America's military. And calling them rapists... And calling them murderers. The fact that he is only able to show such disdain toward the troops because of the work of the troops themselves, who for over two hundred years have stood as a bulwark against tyranny is utterly lost on Murphy.
