Patrick, I agree with much that has been written regarding system vendors

Most systems that are sold are useless--I have bought several over the years. I am convinced that the thing to do is to develop ones own system. I am not convinced at all by the arguments advanced as to why mechanical systems don't work. In part, this is because I use a mechanical system that I developed and I know that it works--and it has worked without modification in different market environments for years. This is because it is a stable system and as the article stated it is easy to develop a system that will produce great results but the question is whether it will last when it comes to different markets and environments.

From personal experience I can tell you that the difficult thing is not one of finding a stable workable system but being able to follow every signal, not second-guessing the system and being able to stay with it when one undergoes a draw-down and experiences a number of losing trades.
