There is some truth to the article, for sure.

Libertarianism, like other political dogma, comes in centrist and extreme forms, and everything in between. I don't find libertarian extremists any more tolerable than liberal or conservative extremists, OTHER THAN the fact that libertarians tend to better understand why they have their own political leanings where conservatives and liberals just seem to be following their respective leaderships.

I have personally become far more L since Obama took office, so I can identify with the author's position. Still, I fall right in the middle of the libertarian spectrum, not at either extreme. I still think you have to have government for a number of important functions because no one else would be motivated to do the work. But I also acknowledge, as any rational person would, that government while necessary, is almost always less than ideal and can almost never deliver the goods with the effectiveness of private enterprise. That is a sacrifice we have to make because some jobs just can't or won't be done by private organizations.

It is time for the country to move toward libertarianism as a solution to the dual plagues of modern liberalism and conservatism. While Ls have their own problems, at this point they provide the only reasonable alternative to the fiscal, legislative, judicial, and executive insanity that's been underway for the last five years.
