[ PLT Chat ] Hi, Steve.

PLT is looking pretty good. Steady as she goes.
I would want to see it break it's last high near 41.25. A close watch near 40.75 would be prudent.

I hope you got this post.

Steve:

<<Focal Communications Corp., a facilities-based start-up in Chicago, is trying to avoid OSS problems by focusing on customers who want new lines. It also is targeting services in Ameritech Corp. territory in Chicago and Bell Atlantic territory in New York. These RBOCs are easier to get interconnection agreements with than US WEST, Inc., SBC or GTE Corp.>>

A quick strategy question. Do you think an RBOC is better off playing ball with the CLECs so that it can offer long distance sooner, or is stonewalling (like SBC) the way to go? I would bet that the payoff from being able to offer long distance is greater than what might be lost to competitors in the local loop. It probably varies by service territory/state regulation, etc. What do you think?

Thanks,

Charlie
