Hmmm, that link said that Apple is having channel trouble with all the 604e machines. I find that a bit surprising since I would've thought Apple had learned its lesson by now. (And I think it has learned the lesson with the G3s because those are in better stock than previous "hot" models have been. You can at least get one in two weeks and Apple did have 20,000 machines on hand for Nov. 10.) I also think back to Steve Job's comments on CNBC Nov. 10 when he claimed that Apple had its lowest inventory in a long, long time.

Who to believe? Perhaps this is all FUD and Apple with the canny York, Jobs, Ellison, Woolard, Anderson, etc. have released one timely SEC document, that is mainly true, they get the typical press comments, don't rush to defend themselves from the hand wringing, and then they show a .05 profit.

I do note that James Staten corroborates my thesis that the clone competition has dried up. I guess we've got G3 and Christmas-fed consumer 6500 sales on the plus side, with "dead" 604e sales on the negative side.

Help!

Marc
