koan, I like you, and pretty much agree with most things you post since you are a liberal, but you are just wrong on this issue... not everyone can afford to go to college and it's not even in the best interest of every single person to go to college... it's highly over-rated in many instances... there's a very real shortage of skilled labor in this country that offer very well-paying jobs/careers... and if Steve Lokness is agreeing with you on this issue then that should be a huge warning flag that you are up the creek without a paddle :^)

You cannot apparently read an entire sentence as written. I don't care about you- and I don't mean that I don't care what happens to you, I merely mean your personal life story isn't relevant for other people who are not you. I don't care what you've done. I don't care what your plumber's kids did. What you may or may not have done has zero to do with the hypothetical plumber, who need not waste his time in college to please YOU. If he would like to go to college, for whatever reason, and colleges fulfills some desire for him, great. But the plumber can learn and develop his mind, or not, it's up to him. And he can develop outside of college. But I sense you don't really believe that. And while I was sort of neutral about the whole UC requirement- I'm now 100% for it. Thank you for solidifying my opinion.
