"Chasing Ice" They want me to give personal information and pledge and sign up to see the film. I have personally seen glaciers retreat over decades so it's not really that interesting to me. I know how glaciers work and so doubt they add anything to my knowledge other than some specifics about the particular glaciers they have filmed.

There are lots of glaciers in NZ.

There are tumbrils way down the slopes of Mount Ruapehu where there is no snowfield at all [there are snow falls there in winter but no permanent snow]. Gibbston Valley is used to grow grapes for wine. That valley was gouged out by a glacier. My niece lives in Wanaka, on the edge of Lake Wanaka, which is was formed by the terminal moraine being left as the glacier retreated, with the lake forming behind the terminal moraine. There are several such lakes such as Tekapo and Pukaki. It's much nicer there without the glaciers covering the landscape.

Those monster glaciers retreated at the end of the last glaciation some 10,000 years ago. But more recently, the Little Ice Age caused some reglaciation with the Fox and Franz Josef glaciers heading for the sea. Over the 20th century, they have retreated kilometres and now are into the foot hills of the Southern Alps. Here's the Fox Glacier. You can see how much it retreated in the 19th century and then 20th century.
