Caprius Announces Reimbursement Contracts for ItsAurora System From Seven Leading Massachusetts Insurance Payors andProviders
December 10, 1997 08:07 AM
WILMINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--December 10, 1997--Caprius, Inc. CAPR today announced that it has successfully secured reimbursement contracts from seven leading Massachusetts-based health care insurers and payors for its Aurora(tm) breast imaging system. Caprius also reported that since the Aurora system was installed at the Faulkner-Sagoff Breast Imaging and Diagnostic Centre in Boston, in mid-October 1997, more than 117 commercial and clinical scans have been conducted under the guidance of Dr. Norman Sadowsky, M.D., one of the country's most renowned experts in the field of breast health care.
Reimbursement schedules range from 70-percent to 100-percent, per scan, depending upon the provider. Several of the providers and payors began reimbursement for the Aurora on November 1, 1997.
"It's a major stamp of credibility for the science and efficacy of the Aurora that most of the major insurance providers and payors in Massachusetts have agreed to aggressive reimbursement schedules," said Jack Nelson, Chairman and CEO, Caprius, Inc. "We will continue to pursue additional contracts in Massachusetts, as well as in other regions where the Aurora is being commercially utilized."
Nelson continued, "Installing the Aurora at a premier health care facility, and securing reimbursement contracts for its commercial use, represents one of our core strategic growth models. The Faulkner-Sagoff Centre serves as one successful example of this model, and underscores our commitment to expanding the commercialization of the Aurora system nationwide." .
The Aurora, developed by Caprius, is the only FDA-cleared, MRI-based dedicated breast imaging system in the United States.
Caprius, Inc. is dedicated to the development and commercialization of the Aurora system. To date, the Aurora has been selected for installation at the following sites: the Faulkner-Sagoff Breast Imaging and Diagnostic Centre in Boston, Massachusetts; the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas; the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences; Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in Englewood, New Jersey; and Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
