Bob, The main problem of both failures, NexGen and Cyrix, were not because that they could not design/manufacture faster processors. People pays higher premium to get better things. PR rating from both NexGen and Cyrix caused the suspects and fear on the buyers since they don't have enough resource to judge if their PR ratings could hold the truths. Even worse, the PR rating made the more advanced Cyrix chips look so-so. In return, it destroyed the sales of 6x86 and M2 and costed us deerly. Why people pays higher price for PPro-200 over Pentium 200? Performance! while they don't wish to be cheated! Mark tinny PR rating but price MX on clock speed.
