Japan's Hashimoto Faces No-Confidence Motion, Asahi Says

The Japanese opposition New Frontier Party will submit a no- confidence motion in parliament against the cabinet of Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto, saying Hashimoto has mishandled the economy, the Asahi newspaper said, without citing sources. Opposition parties oppose legislation passed in the lower house yesterday which will allow financially troubled banks that agree to merge access to the Deposit Insurance Corp. The Democratic Party of Japan and the Taiyo Party will support the New Frontier Party, the paper said.
